Ancient Sunrise shell (Langford's pectin) found on secrets beach Kilauea, Kauai after the hurricane iniki in 1992. This may be the largest and oldest sunrise shell ever found. It is very heavy 8 ounces, the shell is petrified. To me this shell is invaulable since no one may ever find another as large and as old.
Sunrise Shells are only found on the Hawaiian islands. In the old days only the royal families were allowed to wear Sunrise shells the commoners were allowed only to collect them.
